Aside from having lost its editorial credibility to a series of articles fabricated from whole cloth, the once-venerable Times is now whoring itself out to a group of mass-murderers?

It's no wonder the "national paper of record" is now regarded so poorly on both -- and all -- sides of political and philosophical debate.

Of course, the editors will say it's an "insert," not editorial material, and that we should direct our comments to the "publisher."

Evidently, genocide means nothing when dollars are involved.

I would like to examine a study of the insurance industry. Having had and currently having some serious questions about this industry, I would enjoy a thorough study of just how that industry operates. I have that uncomfortable feeling that I must have forced but pseudo friendship with someone who perpetually has his hands all over me, especially in my pocket that carries my wallet. Compaired with others who have had serious, devestating confrontations with insurance companies, my problems are minor. Nevertheless, my small difficulties, plus others like me, plus others who are more severely impacted amounts to one gigantic ripoff, and its mandated by law!

Prosecutors charged three former employees of Michigan Public Media with illegally accepting golf club memberships, Persian rugs, airline tickets and massages in exchange for on-air considerations at the state's top public radio station. Each of the men -- current WDET-FM general manager Michael Coleman, Jeremy Nordquist and Justin Ebright -- was charged by Washtenaw County prosecutors in Ann Arbor with embezzlement of under $20,000 while working at Michigan Public Media-controlled WUOM-FM (91.7).

"This is something we all know, that a way of dealing with human rights activists is to claim they have secret relations with foreign powers," said [human rights lawyer Abdolfattah] Soltani, who co-founded a human rights defense group with Nobel laureate Shirin Ebadi. "This very much limits our actions. It is very dangerous to our society."

On 2/7, I wrote the message #383. I talked about two strange sections of Patriot Act were particularly designed on me and is set to be eliminated in compromise. But because Feds couldn't finish my case to their schedule so they have to delay it for another five weeks.

Next day on 2/8, there was an alert in Capitol Hill.

I am familiar with this. It's another intimidation on lawmakers. There were similar events When D.O.J. was pushing to pass through the Patriot Act, Senators were intimidated by anthrax letters. When the Feds want the House to authorize the Iraq war power to President Bush, there was a D.C. sniper shooting spree. So what was it this time? The answer came at same time. Same day on 2/9, news reported:

It was a power show off. When I said the D.O.J. delayed the compromise by a short time once and again, they want to show that they can make the change quickly.

It also proves the library provision is targeting at me. The libraries I had been to were just a few. So it doesn't affect them to exempt the most. The other two changes in Patriot Act are also minor. It's only a cosmetic concession.

It would seem that you don't follow the spin analysis too much. It's a bit of a non-sequitor - and a lot of a twig for admin supporters to cling to.

Interesting how the major network t.v. shows have changed their 60 Minutes type shows (whatever those types of shows are called --- "news magazines," I guess) into hour-long "whodunits" --- the implications usually being as if the terrible criminals might be our very own neighbors and such, because someone disappeared or was found murdered, or the like.

Obviously this can sometimes be true, but they hash and rehash the evidence and purported evidence, as if to galvanize and channel maybe not the rage, but the TIME of the public --- people who generally are very busy to begin with.*

Multiply one hour of distracted attention by the number of people watching, and how many lifetimes would that equal, of time preoccupation? (Not to imply that is necessarily in all ways "equal" to the taking of a particular human life, because people do choose for whatever reasons to watch these shows.)

Anyway what about the MASS murders (a.k.a. holocausts) that occur when a corporation pollutes the air, or when an organization supported by tax-payer money such as FEMA to protect the people during a disaster, are misused and the funds diverted to different purposes? Just because these subtle deaths occur quietly and on a less obvious scale --- well does that make them less significant than a disaster that suddenly takes a hundred or so lives? (And cannot escape getting our attention?)

The lack of attention given to these mass murders is as if to underscore the insignificance of the individual. Meanwhile, a seeming counter side is the marketing attempt to prey upon the public with bait of making oneself "significant" or more significant, via worshipping their products and all. They underscore to us things, as if to say:

"Genius is dangerous!" and "Mediocrity is safe!" As we become more and more like a dog-breed, bred by them and their conditioning of us and all.

*(And this is not to mention how it is turning out to be that those imprisoned have often been turning out to have been innocent, but wrongfully accused or framed.)

Meanwhile --- the media must be thanked for the number of times it has exposed an innocent person who was wrongfully accused or framed.

While it is true that the DNC lost the Dixiecrats to the GOP through Civil Rights, it is on record that it was Jimmy Carter who first specifically addressed the evengelical voting block - and that the idea of a fundamentalist solid-voting block is relatively new; the Moral Majority was founded in 1979. At the same time, the various fundamentalist groups have, through history, often espoused platforms that were almost socialistic.

What we see today is a new monster.

Excellent logo! Most of all I like that that you support quality of sources of the information. Some popular editions have burnt through on that that placed unchecked information practically unknown people for a raising of ratings and not understanding who and that has given them.
