I can't believe that the Journal-Sentinel would ever discipline any employee that signed recall petition against Scott Walker. That newspaper has always been left-leaning.

They just won't tolerate being exposed for the crooks they are and the fact that they do NOTHING in the best interests of WE, THE PEOPLE.

I am trying to reach a large- diverse number of local groups. The Ohio branch of the Gray Panthers has stated that they are also against KXL and will be trying to get involved.

We know the jobs aren't going to be created here, how do we reach the local unions? My idea is to show union locals the job creation prospects from infrastructure repair in the state of Ohio- unlike KXL, which will create no jobs in Ohio if it is approved, infrastructure repair has the ability to create thousands of jobs for years to come in Ohio.

Organizations involved so far: OSEC, 350.org Toledo/Columbus/Cincinnati, Interfaith Power and Light, Gray Panthers. We will know whether the IWW is on board this Sunday.

Whom do we contact next and how do we show DC that, contrary to the statements in SCR 7, Ohioans do not support KXL?

Christopher A. Jackson is credited as Producer and Executive Producer on the video, he also shares credits as Set Designer, Treatment Creator, and Songwriter with Ms. Hicks. See the final frames of the video for the full list of shared credits.

I've watched this Video and this is the most unsettling thing I've ever seen! I know the need to be killed to eat them, but what type of people can be so vindictive? If a person can do that to a turkey they can do that to anything including a human. I'm surely appalled at the site of these poor birds. I am going to pass this along to everyone I know. I will never buy anything made from butterball again, and I know once my family and friends see this they will not buy butterball either!!!!!!!

The article mentions that the video was made by a young woman named LaToya “Chapter” Hicks, but the production credits go to Christopher Jackson. That's not accurate. LaToya was also the Director of the video, along with being one of the Creators, Songwriters, and Set Designers. She discusses why she created the video here: http://www.rightthisminute.com/video/its-free-swipe-yo-ebt This is a great video that speaks truth to the corrupt liberal elite.

Sorry ALEC. If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck and keeps forcing its duck bills where they don't belong....

We're on to you, and fully intend to turn up the heat and make you stew in your own juices.

Isn't this the same Journal Sentinel that threatened disciplinary action against ANY JS employee who signed the recall petition against Scott Walker? So even though it relies on the First Amendment to do its work, I guess that part of our Constitution only applies to those who agree with the views of this conservative corporate entity.

Help stop Ag Gag laws that are destroying consumer's ability to know what really goes into making their food. You can do so by signing and spreading the word about this petition on the White House website that's picking up steam https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/criminalize-ag-gag-laws/KQWSvsKr .

Help be a part of the solution: sign and spread!

This is disgusting! I'll never buy Butterball again. Ever. Will be sharing this with everyone I know to make sure they don't either. Now, how do we make sure NC legislators don't get re-elected?

Promotion of the idea of a business as deserving the same rights to privacy as a home can be seen as consistent with the Supreme Court's controversial decision that corporations have the same rights to free speech as individuals.
What seems inconsistent is the notion (as in the ag-gag proposals) that a business or a corporation should be exempt from the laws that try to regulate excesses of individuals that negatively effect their fellow citizens, the environment, and the nation.
Businesses and corporations are not sacrosanct refuges like families or homes. They invite public patronage and depend on public endorsement by which they hope to benefit. Their goal is to not be defrauded of their profits or their reputations. Another of their goals, however, seems to be that I should be defrauded of my right to know about any lawlessness and failures of ethics/morality that would help me to exercise my right to choose not to share their guilt or further empower them by doing business with them or my right to choose to prosecute them for illegal practices.
Any law that thwarts investigation of wrongdoing is unworthy of a country with our history; any honest exposure of wrongdoing in information collected by any method that our domestic government openly finds acceptable practice for itself should be applauded. I, for one am grateful.

With regard to cruel slaughterhouse practices, I say that Butterball is not the first known offender, that slaughter in general tends to dull feeling for animals' wellbeing, that vigilance and surveillance are important (even if done stealthily), that transparency should be a policy rather than an oversight, that there should be constant efforts to mimimize the distress of the animals that are killed for our benefit.
Someone once said something to the effect that man is the only animal who can remain on friendly terms with the animals he intends to eat until he eats them. The emphasis is on huMANity here. And if we can't manage it, maybe we should be vegetarian!

I don't really understand the arrest strategy, especially when that effort seems to be coming at the expense of organizing to speak out at public hearings on Keystone or support support or fight resolutions at the state level.

You sound just like a real journalist...a rare breed. If they let you go it was the best thing that ever happened to you and good riddance to them. They are the ones that should have the nightmares, not you.

  • Seven State Keystone XL Resolutions -- Where Are the Environmentalists?   11 years 8 weeks ago

The "environmentalists" around here and even the global warming activists are too busy fundraising to pay professional staffers to save the wetlands and endangered species and make more bicycle lanes and lobby mass transit and even fight GMOs and other toxics killing the bees and making people, livestock and pets sick. It's all so sad and bad that their minds cannot embrace the data that all of what they are donating and volunteering to save is now doomed. Whatever survives beyond cryptic microbes is likely to burn up and the balance will have their genomes artificially scrambled by an extinct humanity. Maybe their subconscious minds are informing them that the death of all life might be for the best considering the seemingly unstoppable rise in chronic morbidities of all forms of life that are not clearly doomed.

It's a shame to know that some people will do anything in order to keep their status in society, these rich people living in the U.S. who funded these atrocities should also be investigated by the UN Truth Commission, they should pay for their wrong doing.

  • WI Senate Passes Mining Bill, Opposition to Continue   11 years 8 weeks ago

To the tribal leaders, you all have abused the spearing and taking away fish that has taken this state millions of dollars to stock and have pissed off so many at doing so!!!!! In such a way as to leave piles of uncleaned fish or bragging boars and pics of muskie's laying on the ice at fis spearring contest's, that you are soon going to feel the pain at the casino's, for you cant rape our lakes, then want us to back you on some thing about our lakes! PLEASE we all can work on our great state and all its lakes together, thanks DK

So who exactly owns Journal Communications? Are the owners right wingers?

  • Seven State Keystone XL Resolutions -- Where Are the Environmentalists?   11 years 8 weeks ago

Indeed the state level is very important in this battle--being closer to the grassroots you can build a wider base, and set the tone for the outcome on KXL. It's also a great arena for changing hearts and minds because you reach folks who aren't necessarily looped in to national/global politics on this issue--they're focused on the economic/jobs alleged benefits, and would require being met more locally to get them on board. If this pipeline is really going to be stopped we need to preach far beyond the choir!

  • New Report Exposes Extreme ALEC Agenda in Arizona   11 years 8 weeks ago

I have lived in Arizona since 1962 and watched these Council for National Policy; Privatizers; ALEC; Heritage Foundation i. e. Goldwater Institute and the corporate privateers rob the citizens of their buildings and public schools. These people are destroying our representative government. Thank you for all your effort.
