As another WGBH alumnus, I am sickened by what has happened to the WGBH Educational Foundation - now in the hands of a Romney acolyte/hack and PBS for caving to the creepy moneyed crowd. We are in deep, deep trouble.
I'm back, I guess I really didn't loose the faith, just a bad day. Bring on the petitions and donation forms. I need to do more. We got to stay in it to win it. Keep on keeping on!!!
Do you really hate yourself so much that you would say something so bloody stupid. You are an example of fascist brainwashing working completely & totally. If you were a policeman, I'm sure you would be gladly beat up peaceful protesters protesting against the Koch Bros oil business poisoning the land & water. What a shame that you have no will of your own & just parrot your Koch masters. Enjoy being a slave.
hey pbs, the rest of us who contribute to you in small amounts are offended you would take one man's opinion into account over the well being and knowlege of every other pbs contributor.
I have never nor will I ever donate money to PBS... it's not because I don't support public television as an Idea, but I don't support PBS's weak nature. BBC has many many great shows, including the most watched show on earth(Top Gear). PBS has very few, and almost none of PBS's shows are actually educational, or informative, or even interesting... PBS is daycare, and crappy daycare at that. PBS needs to loose the wimpy hippies, PBS needs to learn proper business practices(for non profits) and PBS needs to grow a pair before it will be a "real", "grown up" service.
don't be sorry - whether it be a 12 yo or an adult - it's the us ; ok to have an opinion about anything .... we all just need to be sure what we believe is close to the truth.>> & glad the 12yo expressed so succinctly , though i strongly disagree.

5/15/13 The Washington Spectator, Darwin Bondgraham -- “During an April fundraising swing through San Francisco, billionaire Tom Steyer reportedly leaned on President Barack Obama to nix the Keystone XL pipeline. Surrounded by other wealthy Bay Area executives in Steyer's Sea Cliff home, Obama also got an earful about the need to fund clean renewable energy investments. Steyer retired from his hedge fund Farallon Capital last year to get more involved in politics and philanthropy, with a focus on the environment. In 2010, he funded an ad blitz that helped scuttle Prop 23, an oil-industry law that would have sabotaged California's carbon reduction policy. Last year, Steyer spent millions more to campaign for Prop 39, which closes corporate tax loopholes and spends the money on clean-energy research.”
My congratulations to PR Watch for exposing the insidious effects of the Koch brothers and Citizens United on public broadcasting. As a former employee of WGBH for more than 30 years, it was heartbreaking and infuriating to see the same Koch-supported union busting tactics used in Wisconsin applied to what was once PBS's strongly independent "flagship" station.
I think there's very much undue hostility towards David Koch as an individual for being so heavily involved in politics, even though he seems to oppose a lot of the particularly cruel policies of the far right. I don't see him as being that much different than any other philanthropist, and certainly there's as much to criticize about Bill Gates or Sheldon Adelson, for example. Why is this one guy being singled out so often?
Jill Richardson is trying to have it both ways here. She is trying to blame Monsanto and by extension, other biotech companies, for problems with Omega-6 and Omega-3 balances. As far as I know, they don't have an interest in making people eat more Omega-6 fatty acids. That's a really bizarre interpretation. It is the only recourse when a company she dislikes comes up with something useful, and doesn't want to credit them for it. It's all part of a maniacal scheme, you see! (FYI, I do not work for industry.)
Jill calls eating omega-3 soybeans a "band aid fix" yet paradoxically recommends eating hemp seed. This is trying to have it both ways. How is getting Omega-3's from GE soybeans a "band aid fix" yet getting them from hemp seeds not a "band aid fix?" This is bad logic at its worst.
Are you kidding??? These jerks are after Social Security, Medicare and any government program for the poor and elderly. They don't have a heart at all. And you believe that our current society is slanted left? What do you do? Watch Fox News? You're not watching the real news....you are watching lies for entertainment. Turn off the tv and open your mind. Things are not as you see them to be.
America needs more folks like the Koch brothers. They have every right to defend themselves in our current left slanted society. After all, their business is providing over 60,000 people an opportunity to provide for their families without government assistance.

When you have to reach back to the post- Civil War era to make a point about Democrats I think that says it all. This writer should certainly brush up on his history, both past and current. The Republican Party (on the State level) has done more to suppress votes recently than all other groups put together in the history of this country. Revisionist history is a favorite of the hypocrites who currently comprise the base of the GOP.
Yeah. Funny how all the Klan-type people found a welcoming new home with the Republicans when the Democratic Party got too civil-rightsy for them, wasn't it?
"Voter ID, which will win Pennsylvania for Mitt Romney -- done!" Now you mention it, I believe I heard a Democrat say that. Yes, I remember that very clearly. I think.
All of which leaves a broad definition of "politically motivated violence" open to interpretation. In Chicago that was used to define even peaceful protesters based on what law enforcement thought they might--might--do. Any assemblage of people gathered in protest can fit the description.
Wow!!! talk about far right wing nuts jobs. Apparently you can't read. It was the FL repubs that hired a company known for suppressing the vote by getting voters thrown off the list of elegible voters. It was online, on TV and radio.
Shame on PBS for having no backbone. Now that the Kock's have got them in their pockets the price will continue to skyrocket until PBS is no more. I never watch one single thing that has the Koch name on it

Really? You don't consider billions of dollars in fossil fuel subsidies government assistance?

Sonny, you are living proof that propaganda works!
The Kochs are predators, and you are prey.
Sorry for what? It's awesome that Koch employees get to bring their kids to work.

its rare for two people to have such apt names
Help spread the word!

Sorry for the earlier comment. My 12 year old kid wrote that and has absolutely no idea how the real world works. My apologies.

Yeah. Funny how all the Klan-type people found a welcoming new home with the Republicans when the Democratic Party got too civil-rightsy for them, wasn't it?
