I dumped Allstate because of ALEC. I had a nice agent, but when I couldn't get anywhere with the corporate office, I switched companies with his blessing. He knew nothing about the organization until I informed him.
First of all, the senators are right and we do not need to be collecting information on all US citizens. This terrorist fear thing has just gotten entirely out of hand and only leading to more and more government control. Second of all, why would a people want to spy on themselves and pay for it? We should have been asked unless our opinions don't matter any more.
After 29 years, I canceled my AT&T account over their ALEC membership. They won't even discuss it publicly or respond to questions or comments about it. It's time to hold them accountable for their shamelessly unethical business practices. The best punishment for them is to cut into their earnings.
I definitely support Elizabeth Warren's bill to drop interest rates for student borrowers. Three leading education experts recently addressed the student loan crisis in America. Here are the highlights of their remarks: http://usdegreesearch.com/generation-iou-yahoo-live-web-program-tackles-rising-college-costs/
I think the first Anonymous's point was that this republic has gotten too democratic for his taste. Too many of the wrong kinds of people voting, too much input from the riffraff on too many matters better left to the older and wiser (and richer). In my experience, at least, when someone makes a point of reminding us of that republic-not-democracy distinction, that's generally where they're coming from.
If Monsanto is so concerned about the bees why don’t they support at least a temporary ban or just stop treating their seeds for a couple of years just to rule that out? No! they continue to use the varroa distraction.
Could it be that the justice system is so convoluted that it is next to impossible to prove "reasonable doubt" about a crime? Getting a conviction from a jury and swaying a movie/television audience are two completely different animals. Maybe we should take a look at the system itself. Remember, OJ got away too, and was only convicted in civil court...
It is my understanding that moths pollinate more plants than bees. I have not heard of any studies investigating moth health. This is probably because they have no product (like honey)we can use so have no special interest spokespersons. Has anyone heard of any moth studies?
It is possible and logical to be both a republic and a democracy. In the same way as I can be a man and a husband and a father, an animal and numerous other things. In fact a republic refers to a system where the affairs of state are a public matter. It is probable therefore that republics are most likely to be democracies because a democratic system is a system that provides for citizens to elect their representatives to to the governing body of a state.
Incredible! I've worked for 43 years and filed my first unemployment claim after 35 years of employment. I paid taxes into a fund that allowed me to utilize those funds as a safety net. Systematically, WI would deny it's citizens use of "emergency" funds to care for themselves and their families. Conservative ideology will undue this country unless we vote these B*&%!*'s out of office. The governor of WI is not fiscally responsible, HE IS NOTHING LESS THAN A CORPORATE-SANCTIONED CRIMINAL. And he is not the only one! Please, pay attention, read, find out if your State representatives are ALEC members and RID your government assembly houses of these two-faced mobsters. ALEC members (legislative and corporate) are dangerous and are stealing our future.
have you actually been inside those stores? Many of them offer small selections of organic/local produce, cheese, bread,milk.. basically if they are legally able to accept foodstamps, they have to go thru a process to actually be set up in the system to take foodstamps. in order to do that they have to meet requirements.. for example your local gas station offers some things like milk canned foods and some fruit, which is covered, while the beer that they also sell, that people might want to purchase with foodstamps is not. Just because someone comes out of a store with a brown paper bag, doesnt mean that they bought booze, it might just mean they dont like plastic bags, that are more harmful to the environment, then recycled paper bags.
For starters you really have no idea what is allowed under food stamp rules. Both your sushi (fall into prepared foods) and your cold bucket of chicken (also falls into prepared foods) are not allowed under foodstamps guidines.. while someone might have bought the majority of their groceries with foodstamps, those purchases would have had to have been made with cold hard cash.

Households CANNOT use SNAP benefits to buy:
Beer, wine, liquor, cigarettes or tobacco;
Any nonfood items, such as:
-- pet foods;
-- soaps, paper products; and
-- household supplies.
And what about the tax dollars i put into the system, Doesnt that mean anything to anyone? Just because i have a crappy minimum wage job that doesnt quite pay the bills and forces me to resort to begging for food after paying all the bills. Why should you have the right to dictate what i can buy or not buy with my foodstamps? while sure i can agree with most real junk food, ie soda, candybars, high fat high sugar low nutritional items being limited for a matter of health concerns, maybe i should designate that my tax dollars cant go to paying for firefighters to put out your house fire, that my tax dollars wont go to repairing potholes on your street, that my tax dollars wont go to paying for police to answer your 911 calls. maybe i can insure that my tax dollars wont go towards anything military related, which ensures you keep having the freedoms you want that many other countries dont have, Heck maybe i can even dictate that my tax dollars wont go to pay for the costs of having your child/ren in public schools. All these programs our funded by our tax dollars too, but because of a few people you think of as "free loaders", your only focus is on foodstamps.. which i might add many many many of the people on foodstamps are working or have worked and paid into the system, why shouldnt they be allowed to have them when they need them? not to mention that, but why shouldnt i be allowed to eat organic locally produced food that coincides with my beliefs regarding sustainable practices, Humane treatment of animals. low carbon footprints, and supporting small business owners like yourself instead of companies like the ones im forced to work for that cant even pay me a living wage for the hard work i do.
This is exactly what Monsanto wants, that all beefarmers give up.
So they can sell their one time seeds with exploding profits.
What they forget is, bees do more than that- they are simply responsible for most of the green life on earth.
We should not allow Monsanto to continue and stopp them by means of whatever could help.
So people who care about the environment and the food they eat are now called rabid haters instead of radical environmentalists? Bravo! What will be next? And any article that is critical of Monsanto and the chemical companies is a "hit piece?" Read the recent CMD story on atrazine and Syngenta, and you will see similarities with what is happening with the neonicotinoids.
First of all, let's give credit to former Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-IL) for attempting a similar amendment before he had to step down.
Next, in many legal cases, attorneys have argued that the right to vote is inherent, if not in actual words, in the Constitution.
Third, the right to vote, such as it is, is the subject of more amendments than any other. That's saying something.
Fourth, the absence of this explicit right in the Constitution was invoked more than once by the conservatives in Bush v Gore. What a disgrace!
Fifth, these wise congressmen have my full support in their efforts to amend the Constitution.

A new vernacular of personal vilification is arising for those that question the verifiably questionable system.

I'm going do the same thing. I'm going to dump AT&T!
After 29 years, I canceled my AT&T account over their ALEC membership. They won't even discuss it publicly or respond to questions or comments about it. It's time to hold them accountable for their shamelessly unethical business practices. The best punishment for them is to cut into their earnings.
Can someone please tell me why the FDA does nothing about our poisoned food supply and packaging?? Are they on a permanent vacation ?

Vitamins and medicines.
Food that will be eaten in the store.
Hot foods.
Is there a site where I can contribute to their bail?
beer is actually already on the list of things you cant buy with foodstamps.. anyone who claims to being buying beer with them is a liar.

Well, then, I guess they couldn't keep it. Gosh darn. :-(
