Sarah Palin's target listU.S. Representative Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ), 40, was shot in the head at close range at a public event in front of a Safeway store in northwest Tucson. Giffords was one of 20 House Democrats Sarah Palin targeted last March on her Facebook page in response to their votes for health care reform. At that time, Palin posted a map of the United States with gunsight-style crosshairs superimposed over the districts of Democratic House members who had voted in favor of the health reform bill. Around that same time, a wave of threats and intimidation was ongoing against members of Congress which led Capitol Police to meet with lawmakers and advise them about taking precautions to protect their personal security. In one of the more alarming incidents, Giffords' office window was smashed on the night of the health care vote. In June, Nevada senatorial candidate Sharron Angle advocated use of "second amendment remedies" if voters fail to get their way at the ballot box.

Horse manue, efluent, and Sarah Palin

People who advocate violence as a means to a political end are dictators! In a democracy the political process involves debate, discussion, and votes. There is no place for violence or gun play in democratic society.
Ergo, anyone even remotely suggesting its use is unfit and unworthy of participating as an official of office. Palin is being groomed as a possible candidate because she is easily manipulated by the goons in the shadows, who couldn't possibly win an election. George Bush gave white men a bad name. Barrack Obama is now giving all men a bad name. They are banking on the public support for a woman next and Palin has proven her ability to tow the line and spout the garbage. They really don't need to win the vote, as they will simply steal the election again. What they need absolutely though is her acceptance as a candidate. She is obviously not qualified as a public servant on many levels. She is in good company with the likes of Limbaugh and Beck. One has to be incredibly small minded to give any of these nitwits the time of day!

You are all NUTS and

You are all NUTS and uninformed. What a double standard. You can't blame a Terrorist act on a religion but you can blame a shooting on a Political Party.

Preserve life...

I believe that every human being has a right to express themselves. FREELY! specially in America. But still we have to be cautious not to offend anybody by our points of views. So, for me... there is no reason for anybody to hurt his fellowmen no matter how appalled they were of the comment made. The Golden rule should prevail... :do unto others what you want others to do unto you.

So is it alright to yell "fire" in a movie theater? I am all for freedom for men, all men but based on the understanding that in expressing or persuing my freedom I do not violate another persons rights. For a candidate to publicly advocate the use of violence, or even subtly suggest the use of force in order to gain political victory is completely beyond the pale. Those who use such tactics are not worthy of public service. They are obviously incapable of functioning properly in a democracy. They would be better suited to a dictatorship. The role of the media cannot be overstated in such matters as many members of society are easily influenced largely due to our educational systems failure to teach the art of thinking for oneself. What we are witnessing here is the sublime art of mind control for the masses. We are, all of us who watch and listen or read the products of carefully controlled mass media conglomerates, subject to relentless bombarding of our faculties by entities with an agenda who constantly try to control our thoughts and emotions in an attempt to get us to act and behave and think in the manner in which it serves them. How can you defend someones freedom to suggest it is o.k. to kill?

Symbolism

Symbols are everywhere. Red lights signal us to stop. An icon on a cell-phone tells us we have a new message. Al line of sight indicates where we aim to fire. We learn symbols by a variety of people: parents, teachers, pastors, and politicians. We agree on what symbols mean. Those who inform us, like former governors, have a responsibility to those who they instruct, especially when these people make laws, for instance, on gun control. The basic fundamentals of communication is to be clear to your audience and know who your audience is. When you have a large audience and signals such as the line of sight of a gun on particular states within the U.S. with which you have obvious disagreements with those representatives, should never be shown to the public. Your distaste should be hidden, not transparent and certainly not shared with the public in child-like antics. No matter what your personal aches and pains, you rise above and work through the system for better results. Grown ups are suppose to know better, especially when they're elected officials. This is not someone who should ever be in a government position or leadership role.

Crosshairs

The KKK, Sarah Palin and the Neo Nazis have the right to suggest
violence.

Ignore them?

They're just patriotic Germans trying to express their love of the fatherland. Nothing will come of it.

Sarah Palin - Remorse?

Don't count on it. She, Limbaugh, Hannity and Beck will all most likely state that their comments cannot be taken as vitriol, but as free speech - which, ironically, it is. Buckle in. It's gonna be a bumpy decade.

The media should just ignore Palin.

As long as the American media reports on every little boring detail of this quite average person she will keep some power. Start ignoring her. Even reporting negative things about her is free publicity and I am sure she can't believe her luck.

What a shame. She a complete nitwit, talks in bumper sticker language, walked out on her term as governor of Alaska, is unreliable and not very intelligent. So why does the media keep giving the as much press as the President? Come on, let's put her in prospective and she will go away - that would be the greatest service to this country.

We actually do have people in this country so why bother with her.

Sarah Palin is responsible?

Do you have any evidence whatsoever that Sarah Palin wished this to happen, is responsible for it in any reasonable or rational way, or will benefit by it? This seems to me like an irresponsible comment. I'm not a fan of Sarah Palin, either, but if you don't like irrational behavior then don't practice it yourself.
