Dylan Ratigan Coins the Phrase "Bankster Party"

Share/Save Share this

Dylan Ratigan (MSNBC) is the host of the only honest business show on cable. He doesn't spend his day talking only about the ups and the downs of the stock market and encouraging people to "buy, buy, buy!" Instead, Ratigan covers real issues, like how the financial crisis is affecting average Americans, and what the chances are for real reform in Congress.

This week Ratigan went ballistic after the Brown-Kaufman amendment to cap the size of the biggest banks was voted down in the Senate. He created a new term for those who voted against it: the "Bankster Party." In the process, he gave us a target list of Senators who need to be convinced of the need for meaningful structural reform of the banking system. Ratigan's site currently links to BanksterUSA and also CMD's Total Wall Street Bailout Cost table.

Below are excerpts from his great article on Huffington Post. You can also check out the video by clicking here.

Is Your Senator a Bankster?

by Dylan Ratigan

What we have now is a group of politicians with shifting alliances on a case-by-case basis to the special interests who fund them. And currently, the most damaging one to our nation is the rise of the Bankster Party. Thankfully, we can now better identify its members.

Anyone who voted for the Kaufman-Brown SAFE amendment deserves to be considered a member of the "People's Party," at least for today. And while I may not agree, I am also OK with someone voting no on Kaufman-Brown if they voted no on the bailout in the first place. That at least shows a consistent ideology and we wouldn't need to break up the banks into smaller parts if our leaders had the will to let them fail.

But there is a special place for those who have the audacity to do something as incredibly un-American as voting to provide unencumbered welfare for rich bankers and then subsequently do absolutely nothing to fix the problem. And that special place (for now) is in what we should call from this point forward the "Bankster Party." Allow me to present to you its current members:

Banksters Party

I loved Ratigan's comment on the Moody's investigation and the CEO & friend Warren Buffet unloading oooodles of stock and NOT telling investors that they were notified of an impending investigation...
'Long on Companies with cooked books...good, Long on COmpanies with cooked books under investigation, Very BAD!' hahahah. Of course it was his clever sarcasim further emphasising his disgust with the lot of them! I think that he should run the FED!

Every one of these Senators should read, "13 Bankers, The Wall Street Take Over and the Next Financial Meltdown" by Johnson & Kwak, if they did, they would immediately cut this fat down to a healthy portion of the economy!!!!

The website AmpedStatus dot

The website AmpedStatus dot com has a lot of information on the Bankster class too.

Disgusting

Thank you for providing the list. I am horrified, disgusted, disappointed in Senator Feinstein - she will be hearing from me again and again until her loyalty is readjusted. I hope you sent this list in an e-mailed to your listees. We should know who failed to respond to our outcries for justice for the "Banksters."

WV not on the list!

With all of the bad press my state seems to get, it's nice to NOT see either of our senators on this list!
