Sex exploitation
I want to zero in on a certain media fixation centering around sex --- namely, the word "sexy" being used to describe people and clothes, etc., and sometimes almost anything you can think of.
Okay no doubt humanity will forever have normal fixations centering around the subject of "sex" --- whether it be one form or another of it, private or public, monogamous or viewing it as only interchangeable people and parts, molestive or otherwise, etc.
So I am not saying that a fixation with sex in general is necessarily abnormal.
But WHY refer to things like a particular ballroom dance routine as "sexy" --- ? And when they easily can refer to it with some other word, such as "romantic" or the like?
The other day I heard one of those entertainment/newscasters refer to a ballroom dance routine as very "sexy."
And I WANTED TO SHOUT BACK AT HER, "EXCUSE ME, BUT I AM NOT A VOYEUR." And this does not impress me (not in a good way, anyway), to think of ballroom dancing along the line of sex.
In fact I can't stand ballroom dancing when I think of it in terms of actual sex, being that it is in a public forum and all.
Okay I do not know exactly why the media is emphasizing everything to us in terms of its "sexy" quotient lately. But it looks like some kind of marketing plot to me.
