commandeering or looting: choosing that term for pillage and plunder
Recently I overheard on a television newsbroadcast something about military-type forces being sent into New Orleans five days after Hurricane Katrina.
I was not there so I did not observe anything about particular situations.
But I got the idea that they were sent in lest chaos rule the place, or something like that.
What I am wondering about is this: Five days after such a disaster might also be when some people had been without food for that long. They would right then be getting very hungry.
So it sounds like they waiting until right when people would be getting very hungry to go in and film shots of their having to keep rule amongst the "looters" --- people who maybe were only scavenging for food.
Meanwhile, I've also heard terrible stories of the government "commandeering" things that were paid for by other people, such as buses a hotel manager rented to take his hotel guests out of the area.
Maybe it's all just for the photo opportunities of it all. Pretty pathetic!
And how many of these people also enjoy calling themselves "Christians" among others? Not even stopping to consider that Jesus taught to not do things to be seen of men. What fakes. This is beyond words.
