spying

I don't know too much about this new "revelation" about government spying without warrants --- but it is not at all surprising. I hate to succomb to the notion that spying is normal, but truthfully, it surprises me that people are too very surprised. The government has done everything else to get its way. Anything that is potentially lucrative is what they're going to try to find a way to get by with. I'm sure they sanitize their purported purposes to themselves. They probably think they are doing it "for God" or "for patriotism" etc. I am torn between wanting to abandon this subject and yet knowing there are some very strange things that go on regarding spying. It's been going on for years, much longer than since 9/11, but when "the government" got involved PERHAPS was just since 9/11 (but even that I find a little hard to believe). And I don't even want to say how I feel sure I know all of this. It's all too weird. My suspicions are that spying became a very lucrative p.r. tactic, and now the government wants to get in on the booty, and what better EXCUSE than defending against the possibiities of terrorism. Another thing to remember is that any earthly government is made up of all kinds of individuals, and all individuals are very unique as to their own personalities, experiences, priorities, and agendas. Sometimes these humans in authority deem a throne to themselves as to their presumed, extra-special next-to-Godliness, or other omnipotence or all-knowingness. And therein lies a lot of the trouble. Because this presumed omnipotence (or omnipotence of purpose) is how they justify to themselves much of the actually unethical things that they do.
