The Center for Media and Democracy is joining forces with a statewide coalition to put Wisconsin on the record opposing the U.S. Supreme Court's Citizens United v FEC decision and to put us on the path towards reclaiming our democracy.

Please join us in taking this first step to get big, secret money out of politics by signing our petition demanding the State Legislature let the people's voices be heard on Citizens United.

Thanks in large part to Citizens United opening the floodgates to unlimited spending, the last election cost $5.2 billion, and as CMD described in our report "Elections Confidential," much of that money came in massive, untraceable donations from a few billionaires and giant corporations. In Wisconsin's House and Senate races, $32 million was spent by outside interest groups like Karl Rove's Crossroads GPS, and almost 36 percent of that total was completely untraceable. That's not the democracy we deserve.

Along with groups like WISPIRG, Wisconsin Democracy Campaign, People for the American Way, and United Wisconsin, we are calling on the Wisconsin legislature to place an advisory referendum on the ballot so that the people of Wisconsin can have a say on Citizens United.

Join us in demanding the Wisconsin State Legislature put a referendum on the ballot to let the people of Wisconsin have a say on a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United.

Already, 11 states and more than 400 communities around the country have sponsored similar resolutions on money in politics and the people are winning! Now that is what democracy looks like.

Join our call for the Wisconsin legislature to let the people's voice be heard.
