A conversation with Ivan Marovic In 2000, a popular campaign of nonviolent civil resistance forced Serbia’s dictator Slobodian Milosevic out of power and brought a transition to democracy.

Ivan Marovic, of the Center for Nonviolent Resistance in Belgrade, was part of the core group of young community organizers who created and implemented the strategies and tactics that made history in their nation.

Today, in 2010, from the streets of Madison to those of Cairo, peoples around the world are increasingly choosing civil resistance as their method to put authoritarian regimes in check and change their communities and countries. One of the foremost strategists and theoreticians of these techniques, Ivan Marovic explains the nuts and bolts of how these resistances can be waged most effectively to win political and civil rights, freedoms and justice.

Please join us Tuesday evening for what will be an informative and inspiring conversation between Wisconsin citizens and Ivan Marovic that applies these strategies, tactics and lessons for use in our own city and state.

Admission is free of charge.I'm excited about the opportunity to take the amazing energy happening here and think about what it would mean to help it grow beyond Wisconsin.
