I have lived in Odessa, Ukraine, with my Russian wife of six years and I know first hand how this socialized medicine works. The doctors are not paid a living wage, which causes them to prioritize who gets health care on the basis of gifts, bribes or whatever you want to call it. Then you also need to give to the doctors a bottle of vodka or box of candy to pass out to their friends and family for such a privilege.
