This article opens with the line, "Monsanto and friends." Who are their friends. This is really old news, rehashed. I remember well a demonstration done by a Monsanto employee when they first released "Monsanto's bestselling herbicide Roundup." The man said, "It is so safe one can drink it," and then proceeded to drink a shot glass of the full concentrate. I wonder if he is still kicking.
As to Monsanto's friends the IMF comes to mind. Did I really read an article, some months back, where Monsanto and the IMF teamed up with thousands of corn farmers in northern India to grow their GE corn? A sales job, money from the IMF who gets their funds from whom? The farmers attempted to grow this "new and improved" GE corn seed. Did I really read this both in English and in Hindi? "Two thousand corn farmers in northern India suicide over crop failure." If I recall correctly Monsanto and their friend, the IMF, failed to mention to the maze growers that the new GE seed needed four times the standard amount of water,(irrigation). Did I really read this? Do different cultures react differently to failure and or success?
